Familiar Faces: Returning Favorites

At the core of the original Special Ops was an elite task force (Himmat’s team) that uncovered a global terror conspiracy. The mix of tight-knit storytelling, unbelievable action, and terrific performances is really powered by the cast. Fortunately, many main cast members have returned for Special Ops 2.

Kay Kay Menon as Himmat Singh

The heart and soul of Special Ops, Kay Kay Menon returns as the cunning, stoic, and highly strategic Himmat Singh, a senior official in RAW (Research & Analysis Wing). Menon’s performance in Season 1 was widely praised for its skipping and calibrating intensity, establishing Himmat Singh as a new-age hero in Indian OTT thrillers.

Vinay Pathak as Abbas Sheikh

Vinay Pathak’s trusty character Abbas Sheikh returns, who we met in Season 1, is characterized as a Delhi Cop with excellent instinct in addition to straightforward thinking. Their personalities on the whole are opposites, balanced by a grounded energy from Abbas to Himmat’s introspective genius. Their chemistry and comedic scenes together are enjoyable facets of the show.

Gautami Kapoor as Saroj Singh

Gautami portrays Saroj Singh, Himmat’s wife, and adds emotional stakes to the relationship, which is not developed given the limited screen time in the first Season. Saroj in the first season and her influence on Himmat had substantial impact on Himmat’s decisions. In Season 2, expect to see more of her character and witness the personal toll Himmat has in the pursuit of national enemies.
